PRETTY OR SCARY?

Jhing’s line of work enables her to meet talented artists. She met Fonzie Ortiz during her stint as a hooker (she only plays one on stage/film, folks!) on Miss Saigon. Fonzie was a fellow actor and a budding photographer, so Jhing jumped on the chance to become his guinea pig/model. He did her hair and make-up and they tried several looks – from librarian to zombie! The following are some pictures from the shoot.

When Jhing came out with her CD, Sushi Money, she had considered releasing a calendar to go with it. It’s too bad that Jhing decided not to go through with the calendar, but we did talk her into letting us post these never-been-seen pictures from the calendar test shoot.

The Sound of Music – Backstage Pics

The Sound of Music is based on the true story of the Trapp Family Singers. Maria, a young nun in an Austrian convent is sent to be governess for the children of the widowed Captain Von Trapp. Maria discovers that her new boss is cold and aloof, and his seven children are holy terrors, as evidenced by the fact that Maria is the latest in a long line of governesses. But Maria soon ingratiates herself with the children, and begins to fall in love with the Captain…

Sister Margaretta was played by Jhing in this YST production.

Backstage Photos from “A Christmas Carol”

Jhing played Belle in the Young Star Theatre production of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. It was the first show she’s ever done with her daughter, Lianne, who just like her mommy, is also budding singer and actress.

A Christmas Carol is a story about Ebenezer Scrooge, a miserly, cold-hearted creditor, who continues his stingy, greedy ways on Christmas Eve. He is visited by three Spirits, Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future, to teach him a lesson.

In one of the scenes, Ghost of Christmas Past escorts Scrooge on a journey into the past to previous Christmases from Scrooge’s earlier years. He shows him his engagement to Belle (played by Jhing), a woman who leaves Scrooge because his lust for money eclipses his ability to love another.

Miss Saigon

Jhing on Miss Saigon. This show had a great cast and Jhing has made some lifelong friends. When asked what she liked best about the show she replied, “The pole dancing, of course!”
